Initial filming and editing of Crossroads in Context

Summer 2014

Omori filmed the initial version of a documentary film, Crossroads in Context, with a DHi CLASS intern Jack Lyons, and a Doshisha Univeristy DHi Intern Ayaka Uesaka. The film is about recent arrivals from around the world taking an ESL course titled “Shared Traditions” at the Munson Williams Proctor Arts Institute. Most of these students came to Utica because of the Mohawk Valley Resource Center for Refugees and are now studying English for the next phase in their new lives. The film was made silent for benshi performance in mind. This film will be made available at the CJF archive in 2016.
